About InvisibleFatigue
My name is John, and I have ME/CFS and fibromyalgia.
I created InvisibleFatigue to be a useful and reliable information source that covers both of those conditions. I included Long Covid because of the high overlap of symptoms with ME/CFS, but I personally do not have Long Covid.
The content made is designed to help people living with those conditions, and for their families, friends and carers who support them.
Why I made this site
Finding reliable information about these conditions is harder than it should be. A lot of sources either understate how serious they are, or over hype something that isn’t proven. I wanted something that was realistic and sensible, that doesn’t promise miracle cures but does highlight the hopeful research.
How I write
Since I am not a doctor, but someone who has these conditions, I am careful with how I write the information here. I focus on things like patient charities, peer reviewed research or established clinical guidelines.
I reference NICE NG206 for ME/CFS, NICE NG188 for Long Covid, and the 2016 ACR criteria for fibromyalgia, alongside the work of patient organisations and credible research foundations.
Big claims need big evidence, I do not take early results as fact, but I do discuss what might help, and where research might go in the future.
I avoid recommending graded exercise therapy (GET), as someone with ME/CFS who pushed through early on, I know the damage it can do.
I especially make sure not to frame these conditions as a psychological issue or a problem with attitude, I recognise they are physical and real.
Independent
InvisibleFatigue is independent. I am not funded by pharmaceutical companies, supplement brands, or private clinics, and I do not run sponsored content.
